Karen Louise Maenhout, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the Center of Hospice. Karen was born August 16, 1948 in Elkhart to the late Walter and Wilma (Hiles) McQuade. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julia L. Maenhout; sisters, Barbara Stock, Lorraine Hastings; and brother, Walter (Wally) McQuade, Jr. Left to cherish the memory of Karen is her husband, Dennis Maenhout, Sr.; a son, Dennis (Butch) L. Maenhout, Jr.; and daughters, Erin L. (Eugene) Thomas, Samantha L. Downs; grandchildren, Eva L. Thomas, Elijah L. Thomas, Isobel J. Downs; and a sister, Paula (Jeannie) McQuade. Karen was a 1966 graduate of South Bend Central High School. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She considered her friends to be her extended family, and would do anything to help them. She was truly a giving soul. Karen loved her pets and her grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all. Visitation for Karen will be 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, March 26, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Funeral Service to follow at 6:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
