ELKHART - Carolyn Kay “Cookie” Smith, 64, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017. She was born on July 21, 1952, in South Bend, to the late Elmer & Julia (Hadary) Smith. Cookie is survived by a daughter, Jamie (Aaron) DeCocker; a son, Travis (Rachel) Kraus; three brothers, Elmer Smith, Harold Smith, Rusty (Jan) Smith; two sisters, Shirley Fairres, Sandra Smith; four grandchildren: Julia DeCocker, Calvin DeCocker, Alec DeCocker, Helen DeCocker; her niece and caregiver, Joyce Houghton; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edward Smith, Joseph Smith, a sister, Mary Smith, and a sister-in-law, Sandra Smith. Per Cookie's wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation has taken place. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with her arrangements.
