INDEX

[N177]
Craig Ellis Hambidge was born in Feb. 5 1916 in Benton County, Indiana the son of Charles Raymond Hambidge (June 29,1887-Sept.9,1950) and Nellie May Dunwoody(Dec.8,1883-Oct 15,1962). Craig grew up farming with his family outside Montmorenci, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue in 1938, he went on to work for Oliver Plow in South Bend and then moved to the Bendix Corporation. My parents met at Bendix where my mother was a nurse. The family story... my father saw my mother come into the plant one day and was sure after that he had "something in his eye". So my mother dutifully examined his eyes. The rest is history. On June 27, 1942 he married the former Dorothea Margaritta Piechorowska the daughter of Wladyslaw (William) and Stanislawa (Hosinski) Piechorowski in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Six children were born to this union; William Raymond (January 19, 1944), Mary Helen (June 6,1945), James Craig (November 17, !950), Timothy Joseph, Jane Ann (September 12, 1952 to December 6, 1952), Richard John (January 18, 1957) and Richard John (January 31, 1959). They live happily in retirement in South Bend. Compliments of: Jean Marie Hambidge Malone (10/18/2006)

[N21493] As is obvious by the photo, my parent's wedding day June 27, 1942. They were married at St. Hedwig's . The wedding breakfast was held at the LaSalle hotel I believe. As was the custom in that era an afternoon reception was held at my Aunt Marion and Uncle Ted's home on West Washington St. where this photo was taken.
