MISHAWAKA - Phyllis G. Kromkowski, 92, who lived with her niece, Betty and Russell Ludwig in Mishawaka, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, with her family at her side. She was born on February 12, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Frank S. and Stephanie (Salamucha) Baranowski. On August 31, 1940, as Phyllis Baranowski, she married Alfred Kromkowski, who preceded her in death on November 9, 2007. Also preceding her in death were her sister, Esther Bertman, and her brothers, Frank and Walter Baranowski. Phyllis is survived by her special niece, Betty (Russell) Ludwig; a great-niece, Amber (Dan) Schmidtke of St. Louis, MO; and two great-nephews, Brandon (Jenny) Ludwig of South Bend and Joel Ludwig of Mishawaka; and several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kromkowski worked for Studebaker's and as a clerk for Wilson's. She also worked as a corsage maker for Wygant Floral for over 35 years and worked part-time for Flowers by Don. Phyllis was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, South Bend. To honor her wishes, there will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held.
