Osceola - Nelson Henry "Bud" Antisdel Sr., 85, of Osceola passed away peacefully at home on Saturday October 16, 2021. Known to family and friends as Bud he was born on June 3, 1936, in Cassopolis MI to the late Dick and Minnie (Kettler) Antisdel. Bud married Mardell "Mardi" Barnum on May 8, 1956, in Anchorage Alaska, (who preceded him in death on August 7, 1993, after an extended illness). He is survived by three sons, Nelson Antisdel Jr (Barbara), Steven Antisdel, Matthew Antisdel, one daughter Martha Antisdel, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Bud married Georgia Bruens in 1994 (who preceded him in death on May 15, 2020). Surviving Stepchildren are Jeff (Sandy), Cheryl (Danny), Barb, Rick (Karrie) and Gordon Jr (Tara), 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Bud was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church and in his earlier years sang on the church choir. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Controller and had many stories to tell but the greatest one is that while he was stationed in Alaska, Bud was the first teletype operator to send out reports that Santa Claus had been spotted leaving the North Pole and tracked Santa's path on Christmas Eve. After serving in the US Air Force Bud worked as a cabinet maker prior to his retirement. Bud played fast pitch softball as a pitcher and played on the Four Flags Niles, MI team who won their Class D Division for the State of Michigan in 1967. Bud was a fan of all sports. His favorite sports team included the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and the Michigan State Spartans (even while Mardi was employed at Notre Dame). Bud loved to fish, take his dogs for rides in his basket on his bike and later his scooter thru the neighborhood. A Graveside service will be held on Friday October 29, 2021, at 11:00AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 10776 McKinley Hwy Osceola, IN 46561. A luncheon will be served at the Osceola United Methodist Church at 12pm. The Antisdel Family would like to thank the VA Association for all their help.
