Mishawaka - James T. Kimmel, 64, residing in Mishawaka, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, October 5, 2021. He was born October 28, 1956 in South Bend, the firstborn son of Paul M. & JoAnn (Bognar) Kimmel, and grew up on the far south side of town. He graduated from Jackson High School, and worked in commercial construction with Van Vooren Construction Company for many years. Jim married Julie Harbaugh who was the love of his life. Together, they enjoyed traveling and visiting lighthouses. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2009. He was also preceded by his father Paul on March 2, 2020. He is survived by three sons, Eric (Rachael) Kimmel of South Bend, Korey Kimmel of Mishawaka, and Jeremy (Julia) Stein of Boynton Beach, FL; his mother, JoAnn Kimmel of New Carlisle, along with four grandchildren, Ellie, Carter, and Anna Kimmel, and Lukas Stein. Also surviving are Jim's two brothers, Dennis (Denise) Kimmel of Mishawaka, and David (Lori) Kimmel of New Carlisle, and his very special aunt, Maxine Bly of South Bend, who visited and assisted him in many ways, and many more extended family members. Jim loved following the Florida State Seminoles, and the Chicago Bears. Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandkids. Per Jim's wishes, no visitation or services will be held.
