North Liberty - North Liberty - Paul D. Helak, 70, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021. Paul was born August 28, 1951 in South Bend to the late Donald and Alvina (Winkel) Helak. Left to cherish the memory of Paul include his son, Riley Helak; Riley's mother, Debrah Gillean; partner, Kay Bergland; sisters, Ann (Kelly) Newland, Susan (John) Hirschler; and brother, Daniel (Kim) Helak; step-daughters, Jennifer Bergland, and Angela (Joel) Alvey; and granddaughters, Vivian Bergland, Brynn Alvey, and Kaylynn Alvey; Paul was a member of the American Legion Post #357, and Bowlers Country Club, he worked for South Bend Country Club for 29 years. He enjoyed playing golf with his son Riley, bowling, and basketball. Visitation for Paul will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday, October 1, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.
