Dante Pola, 74, of Mishawaka, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Saint Joseph Medical Regional Center in South Bend. Dante was born on August 17, 1931, in South Bend, to the late Louis and Emma (Baloni) Pola. Dante married the former Joan Kathleen Groves on November 27, 1954, in Walkerton, IN. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1995. Mr. Pola is survived by five children, Theresa (Dave) Bodnar of Lakeville, IN, Dante (Debbie) Pola of Cassopolis, MI, Thomas Pola of Elkhart, IN, Gina (Jeffrey) Mynsberge and Joseph (Lorna) Pola, both from Mishawaka, IN. Dante was a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren, Joshua (Robyn) Pola of Mishawaka, Daniel Pola of Cassopolis, MI, Andrew Pola of Mishawaka, Michelle, Elizabeth and Rachael Bodnar, all from Lakeville, Laura and Joel Mynsberge, both of Mishawaka, and Corey Miller of Mishawaka. Also surviving are a brother, Louis (Evelyn) Pola of Granger, IN, and a sister, Alda Frucci of Fort Collins, Colorado. Dante served his country in the U.S. Navy, on the USS Valley Forge during the Korean Conflict, and received an honorable discharge in 1954. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as a steel worker after 25 years of service. Friends may call on Monday, April 24, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 25th, at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
