Obituary from p. 48 of the 6 OCT 1960 edition of the “South Bend Tribune”:
. Frank Cierzniak, 1206 Oakland St., died at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday in the Beatty Memorial Hospital at Westville. He had been ill three years. He was born in South Bend Sept. 4, 1895 and was a lifetime resident of the community. On Oct. 26, 1926 in St. Stanislaus' Catholic Church, he married Regina Kitkowski, who survives. Mr. Cierzniak had been a paint contractor for 25 years. Besides the widow he is survived by a son, James of South Bend, a daughter, Miss Betty Cierzniak of East Gary; a brother, Phil Cierzniak and a sister Miss Henrietta Cierzniak both of South Bend. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Kaniewski and Son Funeral Home. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Very Rev. Msgr. Arnold J. Wibbert officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Cierzniak was a veterans of World War I. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and again by Msgr. Wibbert at 8 pm. Friday.
