Dorothy M. Lobeck
January 3, 1925 - March 16, 2022
Dorothy M. (Lobeck) Burnside of Granger, IN passed away March 16, 2022 at the age of 97. Dottie was a devoted mother, grandmother, dog lover, and golfer. She was a strong-willed woman with a German heritage and simply enjoyed nothing more than being around her family. Dorothy is survived by her children, Larry Lyle Burnside (Sharon) of Lakeville, IN, Gregory Allen Burnside (Cathy) of South Bend, IN, and Janet Lynn Fish (Mark) of Mount Pleasant, SC. She also has five grandchildren Chris Burnside (Tiffanie) of Porter, IN, and Lindsay Renshaw (Mark) of Gainesville, FL, Steven Burnside of South Bend, IN, Katelyn Fish Hamilton (James) of Old Hickory, TN and Andrew Fish (Madalyn) of Mount Pleasant, SC. There are four great-grandchildren, Sydney Burnside, Jax Burnside, Isaiah Renshaw, and Fisher Hamilton. Dorothy was born on January 3, 1925 in South Bend, IN, daughter of Albert and Lucy (Buck) Lobeck. Loving sister to Marion Anderson (Walter), Paul Lobeck (Mary Ellen), John Lobeck (Anne), Vera Jean Staley (Duane), Richard Lobeck (Sharon), Robert Lobeck (Marge), and Jimmy Lobeck. She attended Riley High School. After her sophomore year her family moved to Walkerton, IN where she graduated from Walkerton High School and met her future husband, Lyle Dewey Burnside (deceased March 11, 2009). They married November 4, 1944 in Carlsbad, NM while Lyle was in the Air Force. After the war they resided in South Bend Indiana where they began their family and a business, B & G Construction. Lyle "Dewey" and Dorothy were active in the K of C Dance club for many years. Dottie became an avid golfer. She was a five-time Club Champion at South Bend Country Club where they both enjoyed many rounds of golf and had fabulous friendships. Dottie and Dewey retired to Fort Myers then Bonita Springs, FL where Dorothy again placed her mark with another Club Championship at Spring Run Country Club. Lyle passed after 64 years of marriage and soon after Dorothy relocated to Granger, IN. Much appreciation is extended to Traditions Hospice of Granger, IN and to Dr. Atallah for their care and respect for our mother. A celebration of life will be held later this year.
