Sophie L. Kazmierczak, 90, of the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, passed away at 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the center. She was born on Dec. 31, 1912, to Constantine and Mary Ann (Jankowski) Grzelak, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clem Lepkowski; and by three sisters, Gertrude Sobecki, Ruth Kubiak and Amy Wood. On June 2, 1937, in South Bend, Ind., she married Bert Kazmierczak, who passed away in August 1999. Sophie is survived by a daughter, Lori A.(John) Kelly of Houston, Texas; a son, James A. Kazmierczak of South Bend; four granddaughters, Kathy Schmitz, Susan Malmquist, Patti Kelly and Margaret Kelly; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene (William) Anderson of Everett, Wash., and Helen (Earl) O’Parker of South Bend. ophie was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Church.
