[N33371] Adeline Nowak
May 19, 1929 - October 15, 2022

Adeline N. Marozsan, 93 years old, passed from this life on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her home on the Campus of Notre Dame. Adeline was born on May 19, 1929 to the late Stanley and Hattie (Duszynski) Nowak. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Marozsan who died February 7, 2012; brother Edward Nowak; twin brother, Stanley Nowak Jr. and her lifelong friend, Geri Swartz. She is survived by a niece and goddaughter, Teresa (Robert) Smith, who was like a daughter to her, and Brian Shafer, a wonderful friend who was like a faithful son. Also surviving are two other precious goddaughters - Pamela (Daniel) Miller and Marcia (Tony) Reinders - two very special godsons - Paul and Patrick Marozsan - and many other beloved nephews and nieces. Survivors also include her sister-in-law, Dolores Marozsan, and a beloved cousin, Rita Sobczak. Adeline was united in marriage to Stephen on August 26, 1950 in St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, South Bend. They were married for 61 years. During that time, she held positions at Bendix Corp., L.S. Ayres, and the communications department at the University of Notre Dame, where she retired in 2003. Throughout her working life she was a blessing to the many coworkers, customers, and callers who came into contact with her. Adeline lived in a house on the Notre Dame campus for half a century. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and loved attending Notre Dame football games which she did into her eighties. In recent years, her greatest pleasure was taking her little dog, Barney, her devoted and constant companion, for walks each day around the campus, where countless Notre Dame students would stop to fuss over Barney and to speak with the lady they knew as Addie. She was a longtime member of the St. Casimir Senior Club, which she attended faithfully once a month with her dear friends, Joyce Poland, Jennie Witucki, and Barbara Witucki. Funeral arrangements are being directed by the St. Joseph Funeral Home. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, October 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame at 3:30 PM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers. Memorial contribution may be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 West 6th St. Mishawaka, IN.
