SOUTH BEND - Loretta A. Kasznia, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in her home. Loretta was born on January 20, 1923, in South Bend, to the late Stanislaus and Rozalia (Grzybek) Krupnik. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Stella Gorski and Mary Olszewski; and by her two brothers, Casimir "Casey" and Joseph "Jake" Krupnik. On Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946, in South Bend, she married the love of her life, Walter F. Kasznia, who survives her. They had four daughters together, Cynthia (Fred) Scott of South Bend, Diane (Jack) Zimmerman of Syracuse, IN, and Vicky Kasznia of South Bend, survive her. Her beautiful daughter, Connie Makowski, preceded her in death. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Dale Makowski of Edwardsburg, MI. She is survived by six grandchildren, Timothy (Lisa) Scott of New Carlisle, Thomas (Mandy) Scott of Fishers, IN, Anthony Scott of South Bend, Ryan W. Makowski of Saipan, Mariana Islands, Kimberly Makowski of Los Angeles, CA, and Lance Zimmerman of Muncie, IN; three great-grandchildren, Derek, Conner and James Scott; and two sisters-in-law, Evalyn Liszewski and Pearl Czarnecki, both of South Bend. Loretta retired from the credit department at Sears after 20 years of service. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011, in Holy Family Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Herman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
