Sister M. Verena CSC, of St. Mary’s Convent, died in the infirmary there at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday. She was born as Pelogia Szybowicz in South Bend, Nov 16, 1864, and entered St. Mary’s convent Sept. 20, 1884. She was professed there July 22, 1888, and taught for several years in St. Hedwige’s school. She leaves a sister Mrs. Eleanor Kotecka and a brother Leo Szybowicz, both of South Bend. Funeral rites will take place at 6:15 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at St. Mary’s. Burial will take place in the Community Cemetery there. South Bend Tribune 1/3/1945
