MISHAWAKA - Robert L. McLean, Jr., 75, passed away 4:40 AM Monday, January 20, 2014 at his home. Robert was born on June 4, 1938 in South Bend, IN to the late Robert and Margaret (Sowers) McLean and has been a lifelong resident of this area, attending John Adams High School. On May 12, 1991 in Osceola, IN he was united in marriage to Jean Karole (Puzynski) McLean, who survives. Robert was an Operating Engineer, operating cranes and heavy equipment for many years, before retiring in 1994. He was a Lifetime Member of the Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers. He enjoyed racing stock cars and midget cars, was an automotive mechanic, and enjoyed fishing. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Jean K. McLean of Mishawaka; daughters, Tammy Duncan and Toni (Merv) Purser, both of Mishawaka, and Tracy Howard of Elkhart; sons, Mike McLean and Bobby McLean, both of Elkhart, Jack McLean and Lester (Shelly) McLean, both of South Bend; 38 grandchildren; 14 grandchildren; step-daughter, Frances (Brian) Smith; step-sons, Joseph (Jennifer) Puzynski, Frank (Tina) Puzynski; 11 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Ann Freeman of South Bend; brothers, Lester (Gwen) McLean, Ronnie (Tina) McLean, both of South Bend. Funeral services for Robert L. McLean, Jr. will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615.
