South Bend-Judith A. 'Judy' De Winter, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 08, 2013 in Southfield Village, South Bend. Judy was born on November 4, 1942 in South Bend to Bert and Caroline (Cyndrowski) Lapkiewcz. She was preceded in death by her parents. In 1962 she married Robert E. De Winter; who preceded her in death in 2004. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah (Michael) Cseh of South Bend; a son, Douglas (Jennifer) De Winter of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Emily, Adam and Kate Cseh all of South Bend and Addison and Ella DeWinter of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Tom (Fran) Lapkiewcz of South Bend and John (Pam) Lapkiewcz of Valdosta, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara (Roger) Spitaels, Ron (Betty) De Winter and Jim (Jane) De Winter and many nieces and nephews, whom she thought the world of. Judy worked for State Farm Insurance for 25 years. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral and the BK Club; where she was chairperson for the Annual New Years Eve parities for several years. She enjoyed dancing and going to Las Vegas. But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren whom she considered her Guardian Angles. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 10 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11 in St. Matthew Catholic Cathedral, South Bend with Rev. Jacob Runyon officiating. The family would like to thank Southfield Village, the Meadows and the Arbors for their tender loving care. And special thanks to Pat Catanzarite, Rose Gachanja, Colleen Mitchell, Dr. Natalie Frentz and Brenda for their support, kindness and friendship.
