Shirley Ann Kolesiak, 71, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 10:01 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was a resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 39 years where she was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Warsaw. She had a deep faith in God and the Catholic Church, and was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. Shirley was an avid tennis player, and enjoyed lunches with her tennis friends. She was also involved in the Welcome Wagon, and a member of the Gourmet Club. She loved to follow the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team, as well as Notre Dame Football. She loved gardening, and had an unforgettable laugh, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1942, in South Bend, Ind., to Sylvester Leda and Sophie (Romanowski) Leda. On Feb. 23, 1963, she was married to Ernest Theodore Kolesiak, who survives in Warsaw. Also surviving are her two daughters: Cynthia Romine, Warsaw; Karen (Kurt) Kratzsch, Warsaw; and her son: Michael (Shannon) Kolesiak, Akron; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Her visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, celebrated by Father Phil DeVolder. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. Memorial donations in Shirley’s name may be directed to The ALS Association, Indiana Chapter, 6525 E. 82nd St., Suite 115, Indianapolis, IN 46250; or to Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, IN 46581-1196 and would be appreciated by her family.
