Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to mass on Saturday in the church for Duane R. Fletcher, 84, of South Bend, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Duane was born in Buchanan, MI on May 22, 1931 to Roy and Viola Fletcher. He graduated in 1949 from Buchanan High School and was a longtime employee of Indiana and Michigan Electric Company. Duane married Louise M. Zeisz in 1952. Duane and Louise enjoyed life to the fullest as they cherished each day together during their celebrated 63 year marriage, experiencing life as a team, establishing a strong foundation for their children, and always welcoming extended family and friends into their home. An avid music fan, Duane always had music playing in the house and spent many hours in his garage “recording studio”. Duane is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters, Anne (Rick) Long of South Bend and Peggy (Joe) Wojtowicz of Downers Grove, IL; son, Duane of Seattle, WA; grandsons, Mike Wojtowicz of Lombard, IL and Jeff (Julie) Wojtowicz of Downers Grove, IL; great-grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Wojtowicz; and sister, Agnes of Buchanan, MI. In honor of Duane’s life, donations may be made to Project Search, c/o South Bend Community School Corporation, 215 S. St. Joseph Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Duane’s daughter, Anne, who has dedicated her time in helping care for Duane, is a member of Project Search’s local teaching team in South Bend, which provides vocational opportunities for disabled individuals.
