Joanne L. Zenisek Obituary
ROCKFORD - Joanne L. Zenisek, 88, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, in Alpine Fireside Health Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Abingdon, the daughter of Joseph Max and Ruth Irene (Wright) Hoffman. Joanne married Harold E. Zenisek on Aug. 4, 1951; he predeceased her on Jan. 24, 2014.
Joanne was a 1988 graduate of Northern Illinois University, earning her masters degree in communications after raising her four children. She was a member of Bethesda Covenant Church and the Winnebago County Medical Alliance. Joanne and Harold were active participants in Couples in Recovery (CIR) and enjoyed the group they formed and hosted in their home for many years. Her greatest love was for her family. Joanne will be forever remembered for the way she celebrated life, cherished family gatherings, and fostered family traditions.
She is survived by her sons, Harold (Connie Frazier) Jr. of Rockford, Peter (Shelly) of Granger, Indiana, and Paul (Jo Ellyn) Zenisek of Racine, Wisconsin; daughter, Karen Zenisek (David Circo) of Elmhurst; grandchildren, Skyler, Rachel, and Lauren Zenisek. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, John Tolle.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 E. State St., with the Rev. David Linfors officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Private family burial will take place in Scandinavian Cemetery.
