MISHAWAKA - Frank J. Newman, 88, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Hospice House, South Bend.

Frank was born on December 3, 1928 in South Bend to the late Frank and Hattie (Dempski) Nowaczewski and has been a lifelong resident of this area. Frank attended South Bend Catholic High School, graduating in 1947. He also served our country in the United States National Guard.

On July 2, 1950 at St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka, he was united in marriage to Dolores (Swartz) Newman, who survives. Frank worked for many years at The Torrington Company and later at the Mishawaka Public Main Library. He was an avid Stamp Collector and Coin Collector and took great interest in the NASA Space Program. He enjoyed gardening, wood crafts, Notre Dame Football, and animals, especially his pet grand-dog, Audie. But the joy of his life was his wonderful family.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Newman of Mishawaka; two daughters, Karen Innman of Mishawaka and Sharon (Paul) Fox of California; granddaughter, Kerrie (Luke) Conway of Mishawaka; and two great grandchildren, Maggie and Jojo. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia and his five brothers, Al. Richard, Norbert, Gene, and Ervin.

Funeral Services for Frank will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 20, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka, IN 46615. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 3:00 PM till 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be given to Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46617 or to Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
