John Nowak, Sr.
John Nowak, Sr., of 1026 West Dunham street, died at 9 a.m. Sunday in his home a day after reaching the age of 82 years. He had been ill two weeks. Born in Poland, June 19, 1855, he came to South Bend from that country 58 years ago and was married here to Agnes Michalswa, who survives. Also surviving are the following children; Valentine, John Jr., and Walter of South Bend; Mrs. Mary Hack of Michigan City, Ind., and the Misses Carrie and Stella Nowak, at home; a brother, Peter Bielecki, and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Dyska, both of South Bend, and one grandchild. The body may be viewed in the home until the funeral at 9 a.m. Wednesday from St. Hedwige's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Francis X Luzny, C.S.C., pastor, singing the requiem high mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Polish cemetery. Published in the South Bend Tribune; Monday, June 21, 1937.
