Dennis “Denny” Nimtz, 64, of South Bend, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at his residence. Dennis was born May 7, 1956 in South Bend to Emerson and Margaret (Tetzlaff) Nimtz. Denny worked at the Dodge foundry for over 20 years before retiring. He is also enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was boating out on a lake, hunting in the woods, or skiing. Denny loved it all. Along with his mother, Denny is survived by his daughter Sarah Nimtz and her husband Simon Hernandez of South Bend, his two sons, Dennis Nimtz of Mishawaka and Phillip Nimtz of South Bend, his two grandchildren, Selena and Sirgeo Hernandez and his 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters Sharon (Randy) Herban of Osceola; Gail Walsh of South Bend, his two brothers, Rick (Jan) Nimtz of South Bend; and Gary (Kathy) Nimtz of Lakeville. Dennis is preceded in death by his father and sister, Barb Vidmar. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 915 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana, with Rev Scott Bowie officiating. Friends may visit with family from 9:30 a.m. until service times on Thursday.
