Frieda Marie Phillippi, 83, of Galien, passed away Monday, December 28, 2021 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 3, 2022, at Buchanan Church of the Nazarene, 704 W. Front St., Buchanan. Visitation will be one hour prior beginning at noon also at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Galien Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with future expenses or Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com Frieda was born July 11, 1938 in Galien to Thad & Margaret (Henspeter) Breland. She graduated from Galien High School, Class of 1955. On June 1, 1957, she married Jack Phillippi at the Nazarene Church in Buchanan. Frieda devoted her life to her family, caring for her children and husband, and after the death of her daughter Toni, she helped raise Toni’s children. In addition, Frieda worked for fourteen years at Gerber Baby Wear in Three Oaks. She was a lifetime member of both the Nazarene Church in Niles and Buchanan. Frieda is survived by her two sons, Scott (Judy) Phillippi and Paul (Cheri) Phillippi; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Lakin, Jessica Vigansky, Gwen (Art) Martin, and Nathan Phillippi; six great-grandchildren-Skyler Lyle, Cole, Aiden & Ollie Lakin, Cooper Vigansky & August Forray; two sisters-Henrietta Hein & Mary (Bob) Schrader; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thad & Margaret, daughter Toni Phillippi Hickey, her husband of 60 years-Jack Phillippi and brother Thad Breland.
