Susan Carol Koloszar, 76, resident of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 22, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on November 21, 1944 in South Bend, IN, to Frank Michael Springer and Athelene L. (Wyford) Springer, both of whom preceded her in death. Susan is survived by her daughter, Tina Casavant of Pawtucket, RI; sons, Mark (Joan Parmley) Koloszar of Mishawaka, and Brian (Kimberly) Koloszar of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Zachary Casavant, Cody Casavant, Alexis (Preston) Newbraugh, and Abby Koloszar; her first great-grandchild due this week; and a brother, Frank L. (Linda) Springer of South Bend. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Grisanti. Susan graduated from Central High School in South Bend, and she remained a lifelong resident of the Michiana area. She was employed as a recorder at Metropolitan Title Company, retiring in 2012. She had previously served the community as a crossing guard for South Bend Community School Corporation for twenty years. Susan attended St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend. Susan was an avid reader, who read several books a week. She also enjoyed sitting out on her back deck to admire the outdoors. Every night, she enjoyed feeding pretzels to her grand-dog, Zoe. Susan was a very kind and loving person that made friends wherever she went. She was also proud to be a cancer-survivor, following her treatment for lung cancer. The family would like to thank Michiana Hematology Oncology and Dr. Ansari for the extra years they got to spend with her. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family.
