SOUTH BEND - Irene T. Tubicsak, 94, of South Bend, passed away Friday in her residence. Surviving are her children, Terry Tubicsak and Darlene Andert, both of South Bend; and her sister, Rita Latowski of Mishawaka. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Cathedral in South Bend on Thursday.

SOUTH BEND - Irene T. Tubicsak, age 94, of South Bend, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at her residence. Irene was born December 27, 1916 to the late Joseph and Helen Lyczynski in South Bend, Indiana. She was the spouse of the late Frank Tubicsak, who preceded her in death, passing away in 1988. Surviving are her children, Terry Tubicsak and his wife Patty, and Darlene Andert, both of South Bend, and her sister, Rita Latowski of Mishawaka. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her siblings Arthur, Alex, Clement, Joseph, Stanley and Evelyn Lyczynski, and Clara Gorski. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am at St. Matthew's Cathedral, in South Bend on Thursday, May 12, 2011. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Irene and her husband were the owners of Frank's Tavern and Tubicsak's Grocery in South Bend, and the Wooden Shoe in Mishawaka for many years. She enjoyed playing poker with her group of friends, and family, and loved to shop. She was a dedicated and hard working woman. She was also a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral in South Bend for many years. In her memory, donations may be given to the Center for Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, Indiana 46637.
