Leo R. Goepfrich Sr. (July 6, 1911 - May 2, 1993)
SOUTH BEND -- Leo R. Goepfrich, 81, of Pine Road, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in his home after an illness. Mr. Goepfrich retired from the Bendix Corp. He was born July 6, 1911, in South Bend and was a life-long area resident. On Sept. 1, 1934, he married Henrietta Prentkowski. She died in 1965. On June 8, 1968, he married Theresa Wartha. She survives with four daughters, Natalee Cuti of Chicago Heights, Ill., Elaine Douglas of Sturgis, Nancy McElmurry of Elkhart, and Colleen Lewis of South Bend; five sons, Leo Jr. of Crete, Ill., Thomas of Ossian, Ind., Richard of Ramona, Calif., and Mark of South Bend; two stepdaughters, Christine Hauguel of West Chester, Ohio, and Marion Hollinshead of South Bend; a stepson, Michael Szedneik of South Bend; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Veronica Strasser of Bend, Ore.; and a brother, Raymond of South Bend. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.

Note: By Leo Goepfrich's marriage to Henrietta, one child was not mentioned, Robert. Robert, a twin to Richard, died shortly after birth.
