The Niles Daily Star carried an obituary for Andrew Batko on 18 Feb 1997 and it reads: "Andrew Michael Batko 1978-1997 Student at SMC Funeral services for Andrew Michael Batko, 18, of 3508 Andrews Road, Buchanan, will be held at 11 p.m. Thursday at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, by Pastor Lowell Black of the First Church of Christ-Christian, Niles. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Batko died at 6:30p.m. Sunday at home of natural causes. He was born Sept. 8, 1978 in Niles to Aloysius and Janice Batko of Buchanan and was a lifetime resident. While attending Buchanan High School, he was a member of the tennis team. He was a first year student at Southwestern Michigan College. Survivors besides his parents include a sister, Jennifer Batko of Wixom, and paternal grandfather, Aloysius Paul Batko of Wyandotte. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Buchanan City Library." The funeral was at 11 a.m. not p.m. as the paper indicated.
