MISHAWAKA, IN - Norman Kizer, 89, of Mishawaka, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was born to the late Earl and Charlotte (Buchwald) Kizer in Mishawaka, IN, on November 15, 1931. Norman graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1950. He married Darlene Maike Fox at St. Andrew Church in Mishawaka on August 3, 1974. Darlene preceded him in death on July 25, 2015. Norman is survived by sons, Kurt Davey and Steve Davey (Cynthia); two stepsons, Arthur Fox of Beverly Hills, FL and Joseph (Sandy) Fox of Lecanto, FL; two stepdaughters, Diana Brooks (James Reed) of Cassopolis, MI and Pamela (Victor) Tavares of Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Bob (Ann) Kizer, Jr., Kristen (Stew) Brown, Meredith (Jonathan) Seeds, Nicole (Eric) Bonner, Tyler Davey, Will (Katie) Davey, and Madison (Keith) Thomas; nine step-grandchildren, Richard (Danette) Eby, Rebecca (Patrick) Pilmore, Theresa (Lenny) Gore, Fairrah Fox, Felisha (Rod) Wilson, Paul Fox, Tammy (Mark) DeDecker, Tracey (Tavares) Amad, and Mark (Judy) Eby; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Jerry and Lanny Kizer; and many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his son, Bob Kizer Sr.; and siblings, Jack, Dick, Margaret, Maxine, Betty, Nancy, JoAnne, Guin, and Bob Kizer.
Norman was affectionately known as “Stormin' Norman,” and was a member of both the DeAmicis Club and the BK Club in Mishawaka. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years before retiring in 1989 and working part-time as a driver for Cardinal Healthcare. His favorite restaurant to visit was the Rise and Shine in Niles, MI, where he made many friends over the years. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Welbrooke of South Bend, the Rise & Shine Restaurant in Niles, MI and neighbors, Christy & Jeff. Friends may visit with the family from 3 pm-5 pm on Wednesday, February 17, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 5 pm in the funeral home, and cremation will follow. Due to current public health and safety standards for COVID-19, social distancing will be enforced and masks required.
