SOUTH BEND - Eunice I. Aftowski, 90, passed away at 11:08 pm Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in the Hospice House. Eunice was born January 17, 1924, in Rossville, Illinois, to the late John and Eva Mae (Herndon) Ford. On April 27, 1946, in Michigan City, Eunice married her loving husband, Jack Aftowski. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1994. Eunice was also preceded in death by a son, Howard Dale Ford; brothers, Gilbert, Wayne and Earl Ford; sisters-in-law, Pat Ford, Evelyn Garbacz, and Marie Smith; brothers-in-law, Don Wilkens, Glenn Jordan, Daniel DeVreese, John Garbacz, and George Smith. Survivors of Eunice include her brother, Kenneth (Carol) Lee Ford; sisters, Fae Louise Wilken and Ruth Marie Jordan; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Ray) Czarnecki and Virginia DeVreese; grandchildren, Gregory Dale Ford, Lisa Rene Ford, Regina Mae Ford; many nieces & nephews, and great-nieces & nephews. Eunice attended Riley High School. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening. Most of all she loved to travel around the country with husband Jack. Eunice was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. A special thank you to Dr. Scheel, Dr. McGrath, Dr. Taber and all those who helped at Healthwin, Memorial Hospital and her friends at Fairington Apartments. Funeral service will be at 11am on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where family and friends may gather one hour prior. Burial at Highland Cemetery.
