Louise E. Karkiewicz, 97, passed away at 11:43am Sunday, February 13, 2022 in Golden Living Center Mishawaka. Louise was born on July 5, 1924 in South Bend to Emil and Elizabeth (Degovits) Jeske. On November 27, 1943 she married Leo S. Karkiewicz. He died on December 23, 1995. Louise was also preceded in death by a son Kenneth Karkiewicz, daughter-in-law Sue Karkiewicz, and three brothers Robert Jeske, Charles Jeske and James Jeske. Surviving are two sons Thomas (Kathleen) Karkiewicz, and Gerald (Robyn) Karkiewicz Sr., 8 grandchildren Kathleen (Mark) Solomon, Kristine (Eric) Unwin, Kary Karkiewicz, Melissa (Paul) Urba, Gerald (Stefanie) Karkiewicz Jr., Bradley (Brendan) Bremener., Kevin (Tanya) Karkiewicz, Kenny Karkiewicz Jr., and 18 great-grandchildren and three sisters-in-law Dorothy Jeske, Mary Lou Jeske and Patricia Karkiewicz. Louise retired in 1987 from Associates where she was employed from 20 years. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church and the DFV German Club Ladies Auxiliary. Louise enjoyed going to Hacienda and Starlite Pizza with her family, and Riley High School Reunions (Class of ’42). The family would like to extend special thanks to The Center for Hospice Care, especially Shelly and Laura, and Golden Living Center and their staff who took exceptional care of Louise in her final days. A visitation will be held from 4-7 Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, South Bend. A rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday in the funeral home, viewing is possible through our webcast.
