SOUTH BEND - Leo S. Karkiewicz, 75, of North Goodland Avenue, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Care Center-West. Mr. Karkiewicz retired in 1984 from AM General Corp. after 20 years of service and was employed by Studebaker Corp. for 25 years. He was born April 11, 1920, in South Bend. On Nov. 27, 1943, in South Bend, he married Louise Jeske. She survives with three sons, Thomas L. of South Bend, Kenneth G. of Cincinnati, and Gerald A. of Granger; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and three brothers, Benjamin, Edward, and John, all of South Bend. He was a member of Disabled Foreign Veterans German Club, Moose Lodge 58, American Legion Pulaski Post 50, Polish National Alliance Group 83, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and was an Army veteran of World War II. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 4 p.m.
