SOUTH BEND - Mary M. Grabner, 97, formerly of Portage Avenue, died at 5:50 PM Sunday, August 5, 2007, in Dujarie House, located in Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame. She was born on November 18, 1909, in South Bend, to the late Michael and Theresa (Kertesz) Strantz, and was a lifelong resident of South Bend. On July 7, 1932, as Mary Strantz, she married Edward J. Grabner in St. Mary's Catholic Church, South Bend. He died on September 4, 1993. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. Mrs. Grabner is survived by a son, Rev. Kenneth E. Grabner, C.S.C., of the Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame. Visitation will take place at St. Joseph Chapel, Holy Cross Village, on Wednesday, August 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 3:00 p.m. Burial services will be in private at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mary Grabner may be made to Dujarie House, P.O. Box 706, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
