John C. Boenne

Mishawaka-John C. Boenne, 94, passed away on Sunday, August 26 in Golden Living Center, Mishawaka. John was born on January 23, 1918 in Mishawaka to Serafein 'Adolf' and Sylvia (Vande Caveye) Boenne. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clement and Charles; and sisters, Godalief 'Toots' Burrows and Senna Slock.

On February 5, 1944 he married the former Elsie M. Mostaert. Elsie survives along with two sons, Thomas (Lynn) Boenne of Dyer, IN and Terry (Penny) Boenne of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Boenne of Arkansas; Tracy (Daniel) Skibins of Granger, Sue (Ron) Hubbard of Arkansas and Jon (Angela) Boenne of Mishawaka; great grandchildren, Damon and Brooklyn Boenne, Mia and Lana Skibins, Braxton Boenne, Samantha and Peyton Hubbard and a nephew, Tim (Joyce) Boenne of Mishawaka.
John worked for Dodge Reliance in Mishawaka as a Mill Wright for 25 years, retiring in 1981. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he was a Sargent during WW II. He was stationed in Europe and received a Good Conduct Metal and a Sharp Shooter Metal. John was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, VFW Post 360, BK Club, DeAmicis, Eagles, American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and also served as Director for the BK Club for a time.Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 30 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 31 in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
