SOUTH BEND - Jo (DeVan) Nemeth, 67, formerly of South Bend, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 after a brave 2uyear battle with cancer. She is survived by her two sons: Joseph (Maryssa) Nemeth III of Sturgis, MI and her grandchildren, Joey of Osceola and Prestyn of Sturgis; and Richard (Nicole) Nemeth of Goshen, and her grandchildren, Ali, Jordan, and Trinity of Goshen; brothers, Robert (Jewel) DeVan of Mobile, AL and Christopher (Sue) DeVan of Mishawaka; sisters, Peggy Clark of South Bend and Mary Beth (Scott) Gritzmaker of Greeneville, TN, and nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret and Earl DeVan and her brother, Timothy DeVan. Jo, a graduate of Washington High School, spent her life in the service of others. She worked as a 911 dispatcher for Horry County, SC. Jo also served women victims of Domestic Violence at Mountain Women's Resource Center in California, Child Abuse and Neglect in South Bend and was a Social Worker Technician in Michigan. Jo was an EMT in California and Indiana and co-owned The Nurturee Infant Day Care. All who knew and loved Jo are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, April 4th from 5pm to 8pm at West Goshen Church of the Brethren at 1200 Berkey Ave., Goshen. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Riley Children's Hospital, Indianapolis.
