PLYMOUTH - Brian K. Kitkowski, 52, of Plymouth, Indiana (formerly of South Bend, Indiana), passed away at 9:50 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at Hospice House in South Bend following a brief illness. He was born on June 23, 1960, to Elias "Kit" and Joan (Opaczewski) Kitkowski in South Bend, Indiana, and had lived in South Bend his entire life, until moving to Plymouth, Indiana, three years ago. Brian previously managed the former Pink Elephant Liquor Store and 4K Ice Company in South Bend. He also worked at the former Trans - Tech Electric, and most recently worked at Duramold Corporation in South Bend. Brian is survived by his daughter, Jocelyn Chrzan of South Bend, Indiana; his mother, Joan Kitkowski of Plymouth, Indiana; two sisters, Karen Pemberton of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Stacie Kowalski of South Bend, Indiana; and one brother, Jeff Kitkowski of South Bend, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Elias "Kit" Kitkowski. Brian enjoyed cooking -- he was known for his BBQ Ribs. He was an avid Notre Dame, Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, and NASCAR fan. Brian loved fishing every day, and also attending his goddaughter Taylor's softball games. He was a handyman who was very independent and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where friends and family may visit two hours prior to services. Cremation will follow the funeral services. A family Memorial Mass will take place at a later date.
