Benjamin Charles Turner was born 19 September 1887 in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. He was a child of Jay Lee Turner and Mary E. 'Higgins' Turner. On 29 March 1910 he married Maude Martha Zoss. Maude was a daughter of Julius Frederick Zoss and Augusta 'Kaster' Zoss. They had 8 children, Jay F., Mary Grace, Benjamin Charles Jr., Robert Joseph, Elizabeth Mary, Joan, Eugene, and Richard Phillip Turner. Benjamin died 08 May 1941 in Chicago, Bremen Township, Cook County, Illinois.

His obituary is from the South Bend Tribune 09 May 1941:
Ben C. Turner, aged 54, of Chicago, a former resident here, died in a Chicago hospital at 10 p. m. Thursday [08 May 1941] after a heart attack. A sister, Nell Turner, of Chicago, was with him at his death. Surviving are five sons, Jay, Ben C. Jr., Richard and Eugene Turner, all of South Bend, and Robert Turner, Benton Harbor, Mich.; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Joan Turner, South Bend, and Mrs. Robert L. Klemm [Mary Grace 'Turner' Klemm], Fort Wayne, Ind., and another sister, Miss Hazel Turner, South Bend. Friends will be received tonight in the L. W. McGann funeral home and until the funeral at 10 a. m. Saturday [10 May 1941] in the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church, Rev. Wendell P. Corcoran, C. S. C. , pastor will sing the requiem mass and burial will be in the Riverview cemetery.
