SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth M. Cukrowicz, 84, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, in her home. Elizabeth was born on January 20, 1923, to Benjamin and Maude (Zoss) Turner, and was a lifelong resident. On August 5, 1943, in Tacoma, WA, she married Benedict F. Cukrowicz, who preceded her in death on January 4, 2003. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Joan Ladewski and Marigrace Klemm; and five brothers, Jay, Ben, Robert, Gene and Richard Turner. Survivors include three sons, Brian (Marcia) Cukrowicz of South Bend, IN, Noel (Kathy) Cukrowicz of Granger, IN, and Paul Crow of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Kevin Cukrowicz, Julie Guin, Amy Frazier, Sarah Cukrowicz, Stephen Cukrowicz, Paula Crow and Cynthia Cukrowicz; six great-grandchildren, Syd Guin, Crystal Guin, Blake Guin, Katie Cukrowicz, Andrew Frazier and Emily Cukrowicz; one great-great-grandchild, Adian Guin; one cousin, Mary Jo Cavanaugh of New York, NY; and by extended family members, Pat Turner of Elkhart, IN, Sharon Cooyenga of LaPorte, IN, and Judy Deardorff of South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Elizabeth was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish and the St. Anthony de Padua Harvest House.
