LAPAZ - Barbara A. Marek, 69, of LaPaz, IN, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Hospice House of Elkhart after an extended illness. Mrs. Marek was born on March 22, 1943, in Amboy, IL, and had resided in the Michiana area for the past 37 years, coming from Rockford, IL. On June 12, 1976, in Walkerton, IN, as Barbara A. Clarke, she married Larry J. Marek, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Deanna L. Werekle of CA, Laurie A. Beam of LaPorte, IN, Michel D. Wilson of Mishawaka and Susie R. (Tim) Harty of Plymouth, IN; two sons, John E. (Jean) Marek of North Liberty and Phillip L. (Shelley) Marek of Walkerton, IN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished; five sisters, Carol J. (Tom) Greer, Sandy L. (Bill) White, Vickie L. (Ray) Gonzalas, all of Rockford, IL, Robin Sue Clarke of Sterling, IL, and Susan K. (Jim) Strawbridge of Loves Park, IL; and two brothers, Steve F. (Gerry) Clarke and Rick E. (Jody) Clarke, both of Rockford, IL. Mrs. Marek was preceded in death by her parents, Albert F. and Eudora A. (Parker) Clarke; and by one brother, Richard A. Clarke. Barbara loved scrapbooking, gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved life and will be dearly missed by her loving family and all who had the opportunity to know this wonderful lady during her life journey. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to Hospice House of Elkhart County. Visitation hours will be from 4-8 p.m. today, June 13th, at the Hanley & Sons Funeral Home "Walkerton Chapel," located at 1216 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14th, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. The HANLEY & Sons Funeral Home "Walkerton Chapel" handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Marek family.
