LAPAZ - Larry John Marek, age 66, passed away on Thursday, November 20th, 2014. Larry was born on December 2nd, 1947, to John and Gertrude (Szarwark) Marek in South Bend, Indiana. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Marek was a Union Carpenter for over thirty years and a Starke County Police Officer. Larry was a Vietnam Era veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 385. Mr. Marek was preceded in death by his father, John, and wife, Barbara. Larry is survived by his mother, Gertrude; two sons, Phillip L. (Shelley) Marek and John E. (Jean) Marek; three daughters, Susie (Tim) Harty, Michel Wilson and Laurie Beam; and one brother, Allen Bud (Connie) Marek. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. As per Mr. Marek's wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family visitation was held on Friday, November 21st, at 6:00 pm in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton.
