Joseph Leo Wojtysiak, 83, of Granger, Indiana went home to the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 11, 1939 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Casey and Hattie (Nowak) Wojtysiak. On December 2, 1959 he married Rita Eileen Gaffigan who preceded him in death on July, 8, 2015. She was also preceded in death by one daughter Debrah Wojtysiak and one brother, Stanley Wojtysiak. Joseph is survived by one son, Daniel Joseph Wojtysiak of Elkhart, Indiana, two daughters, Tina (Larry) Van Fleeren of Rome, Georgia, Kimberly (Michael) Wright of Jones, Michigan, one step-son, William Taylor of Las Vegas, Nevada, four grandchildren, Joseph (Autumn) Wright, Amanda (Rodger) O’Connor, Jason (Catherine) Wright and Preston (Myra) Van Fleeren, nine great grandchildren, Lillian, Allyson, Landon, Bentelee, Emmalynn, Logan, Lukis, Jacob and Grace, two sisters, Frances (Rick) Snowden and Sandy Wojtysiak. As a young Catholic boy, choo-choo train was his toy of choice, especially the ones where the smoke came out of the chimney. In his teen age years fast cars were the cool thing, until he found the love of his life Eileen and they were married for 63 years. He became a lather and carpenter to support his family. As time past he enjoyed snowmobiles, marksmanship, and classic cars was his latest passion. Joseph loved Notre Dame football. A visitation for Joseph will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka, Ave, IN 46545 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made Joseph’s honor to The American Heart Association, Wounded Warrior or the Paralyzed Vets. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
