South Bend -- Darlene J. Banasiewicz, 54, of Poppy Road, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday in her home after an illness. Mrs. Banasiewicz was an employee of South Bend Community School Corp. She was born Dec. 18, 1938 in Benton Harbor, and lived in South Bend most of her life. On March 3, 1962, in South Bend, as Darlene Foster, she married Marion Banasiewicz. She survives with two daughters, Betty Banasiewicz and Barbara Banasiewicz, both of South Bend; a son, William of South Bend; a grandchild; her parents, Josephine and James Foster of South Bend; two sisters, Sandra Charlesof Escanaba, Mich., and Wilma Wroblewski of South Bend; and four brothers, Glenn Foster of San Antonio, Texas, James Foster of Lakeville, and Milton Foster and Thomas Foster, both of South Bend. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Independent order of Foresters. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
