Ronald I. Hygema, 70, of Osceola, passed away at 10:55 pm, Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Memorial Hospital. Ronald was born on June 9, 1943 in Mishawaka, the son of the late Donald and Dorothy (Konopinski) Hygema. On November 8, 1969, he married Marilyn Simons. She survives along with two children, Ronald R. (Nora) Hygema of Osceola and Cathyrn Hygema of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Dench, Andrew Hygema, Emily Stout, Eddie Hygema, Kristy Hygema, and Dillon Hygema and three great granddaughters, Riley, Marlie, and Jordin. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Kesner of Mishawaka. Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family. In his free time, he loved to draw and complete puzzles. He proudly served his country during Vietnam in the U.S. Army before his honorable discharge in 1968. A memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. There will be one hour of calling before the service. Military rites will follow the services. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Dr., Mishawaka, IN 46545
