SOUTH BEND - Dorothy G. Sobieski, 96, passed away Friday morning, December 11, 2015 in Memorial Hospital. Dorothy, known as “Aunt Dodie” to her family, was born March 28, 1919 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Lottie (Pietrzak) Sobczak. Dorothy married John Sobieski, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Tom Held. Survivors of Dorothy include her daughter, Betty Held, 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughter-in-laws, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Gertrude Jaworski. Dorothy was proud of her first job as a car hop with Bonnie Doone. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, Harvest House and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion #357. Dorothy enjoyed walking, music, and old TV shows. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Visitation is 3-7pm, Sunday, December 13, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11am Monday, December 14, 2105 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
