SOUTH BEND - Genevieve Niedbala, 86, of West Sample Street, South Bend, Ind., died on Thursday, Feb. 19, in Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. She was born on March 10, 1911, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. She retired in 1976, from the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame. She was married on June 19, 1935, as Genevieve Grabarz, to Casimir A. "Bill" Niedbala, who survives. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Mary Niedbala of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandson, Michael of Tampa, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Kaley Niedbala; and by her brother, Rev. Casimir "Casey" Grabarz, CSC of Notre Dame. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in St. Casimir Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
