SOUTH BEND - Mildred "Millie" Medich, 88, passed away at 9:35 pm Saturday, November 22, 2014. Mille was born on April 9, 1926, in East Chicago, IN, to Milan and Kate (Markovich) Tumbas. She was head cook at Riley High School and retired after 26 years of service. Mille also had worked at the Serbian Orthodox Libertyville Monastery and the Gracanica Children's Camp for over 40 years. She was a choir member and past director of the Aleksa Shantich Choir of South Bend and later member of the Kornelije Stankovich Choir of East Chicago, IN. On June 5, 1948, in South Bend, she married Michael "Mitch" Medich Sr. He died on April 23, 1999. Millie was also preceded in death by her son, Michael "Mitch" Medich Jr. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy (Nick) Tarailo of Crown Point; daugher-in-law, Jo Ann Medich of South Bend; 7 grandchildren, Melissa, Katie, Sara, Michaela, Daniela, Andjela and Katija. Funeral services will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Monday, December 1, 2014, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 Sunday in the funeral home where a prayer service will take place at 7:00 pm. Friends may also call 1 hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gracanica Children's Camp, P.O. Box 371, Grayslake, IL 60030.
