Michael A. Piekarski, 59, of North Olmstead, Ohio, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on March 1, 2013 in his home. Michael was born on December 2, 1953 in South Bend to Stanley T. and Mildred (Czerkies) Piekarski. He had been employed in the airline industry for over 25 years. He started his career in Chicago flying for Chicago Air. He moved to Denver in 1987 when he joined Continental Airlines and finished his career in Cleveland working for United Airlines. He will be missed by his many friends in the airline industry. Survivors include three brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Piekarski of South Bend, Indiana, Kenneth (Gale) Piekarski of Niles, Michigan, and Ronald Piekarski of New Carlisle, Indiana; one niece, Alison Piekarski; three nephews, Andrew Piekarski, Patrick Piekarski, and Jason (Tima) Harwood; one great-nephew, Nolan Harwood; and his dear longtime friend, Monice Kaczorowski. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Those attending the visitation may join with the family in a funeral procession to Cedar Grove Cemetery. Michael was a 1972 graduate of LaSalle High School.
