SOUTH BEND - John A. Wroblewski, 94, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. John was born on March 20, 1918, in South Bend, to Andrew and Rose (Zytowski) Wroblewski, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from St. Hedwig School in 1936. John met his wife, Regina Szuba, in high school, and they were married on May 18, 1944, just before he left for the war. Upon returning from the war, John was hired by the U.S. Postal Service, where he was employed as a mail carrier for 33 years. Survivors include his two sons, Robert (Ann) Wroblewski of Elkhart, IN, and Michael (Suzanne) Wroblewski of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren, Kirk (Anna) Wroblewski of Raleigh, NC, Marc (Joie) Wroblewski of Elkhart, IN, Melissa Cory of Frederick, CO, and Heather (Thad) Jaynes of Indianapolis, IN; four great-grandchildren, Jason Wroblewski, Tyler Wroblewski, Brandon Wroblewski and Ayla Cory; and one step-great-grandson, Nicky Koltchagova. John was preceded in death by his wife, Regina; one grandson, Brian Wroblewski; one sister, Marie Zygulski; and two brothers, Andrew and Casimir Wroblewski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in Holy Cross Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. John was a WW II veteran serving in the United States Army from 1942 - 1945. He was an avid Notre Dame, Cubs and Bears fan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , Good Shepherd Unit at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, or to the charity of the donor's choice .
