WESTVILLE - Mary Jane (nee Matthys) Hegedus, 75, passed away at Porter Hospital in Valparaiso on Thursday, April 23rd. She was born in North Liberty, IN, on August 12, 1933, to the late Achiel and Suzanna (nee VanOverberghe) Matthys. She was a resident of Westville for over 50 years, a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Valparaiso, and its ministries, the choir and luncheon committee, and worked as secretary for Canterbury Place. She is survived by her husband, William M. Hegedus of Westville, who she married on August 4, 1956, in St. Paul's Catholic Church; sons, Stephen Hegedus of Westville and Patrick (Joy) Hegedus of Valparaiso; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Matthys, James (Rita) Matthys and Robert (Sandy) Matthys, all of Westville, and Henry Matthys of Valparaiso; sisters, Cecilia McKenzie of Northfield, MN, Joan (Jake) Jacobson of Lake Odessa, MI, Theresa (Ronald) Biggs of Westville and Jeanette (Clarence) Plisky of Tiffin, OH; sisters-in-law, Julie (Ray) Wolf, Marsha (William) Kuharic and Rosie (Gene) Robinson. She was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Bernadine Matthys, and brother-in-law, Ronald McKenzie. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28th, in the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, to St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, for an 11 a.m. funeral Mass, with Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating. Interment at St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso. Friends may call in the Dykes Funeral Home on Monday, April 27th, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a 3 p.m. wake service. Arrangements by Dykes Funeral Home, Inc.
