SOUTH BEND - Ervin C. Luczkowski, 89, passed away on February 11th at 4:47 p.m. in Hospice House, South Bend. Ervin was born on January 11, 1920, in South Bend. On August 16, 1947, he married Rita Babicz, who survives along with their five children, Peggy (Tom) Mossman of South Bend, Tim (Mary) of Mishawaka, Danny of South Bend, Jim (Sharon Creason) of South Bend and Jack of South Bend; five grandchildren, Robert (Jessie) Luczkowski, Jennifer (Iain Siery) Luczkowski, Crystal Luczkowski, Randall Mossman and Amanda Luczkowski; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Luczkowski and Ethan Feller; and by his brother, Eugene Luczkowski of Elkhart. Ervin was a milkman most of his life and was a custodian at Notre Dame for six years before he retired. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a member of VFW and PNA. Ervin enjoyed camping, fishing, a good card game and a beer. He loved his dogs and was always making new friends wherever he went. He was a parishioner at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
