SOUTH BEND - Doris Jean Wozniak of South Bend passed away at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. Doris was born on April 13, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Emory Welshons and Cleva Miller-Welshons, and stepmother, Edith Welshons.Doris is survived by her son, Michael (Janet) Wozniak of Mishawaka; a daughter, Linda Harper (Butch) of Florida; and six amazing grandchildren: John Hahn, Jennifer Schmidtendorff, James Wozniak, Angela Cave, Shannon Chism and Leslie Cowgill; also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Emory, Cleva Miller-Welshons; and stepmother, Edith Welshons; husband, Clem Wozniak Sr.; a daughter, Catherine Hahn; and a son, Clem Wozniak Jr. Doris worked 20 years at Sears Roebuck Corp. as a Switch Board Operator. In her free time you could find Doris enjoying crocheting afghans, doll clothes, scarves, or macramé seasonal decorations for her family, neighbors and friends. Doris enjoyed spending time with her husband of 66 years going out to lunch and followed up with a few hours at the casino for some fun.The family would like to give a sincere Thank You to all the Nurses, Nurse Assistants and staff who took care and showed compassion toward Doris with her time at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross.
